9:30 am          Spinal Asymmetry

Author and scoliosis specialist Dr. Suzanne Martin, yoga/Pilates scoliosis specialist  Hilary Snider, and Sarah Artha Negara, educator and owner of Bali Body Pilates in Santa Cruz will discuss somatic movement education in relation to spinal asymmetry.  

 

11:30 am        Cancer Restoration 

Dr. Suzanne Martin, cancer specialist, joins Emilee Garfield of the Cancer Core Recovery® Project for pelvic cancer survivors and Andrea Borgman-Quist of the Peninsula Pilates Project for breast cancer survivors,  to discuss the survivor gap and how Pilates can fill it, with a special theme of addressing neuropathy with the  Pilates Method.

 

1:30 pm           Foot Health  

Join Barefoot Rehab specialist Dr. Suzanne Martin and Ilaria Cavagna, NYC-based founder of FEET-NESSand inventor of the Rescue Loop®, as they discuss how the feet regulate the whole body and how whole body movement must integrate the feet, plus the necessity of pre-activation of fascial slings for healthy gait.

 

3:30 pm           Performing Arts Enhancement   

Dr. Suzanne Martin has been in-house PT for Smuin Ballet for 20 years.  She is joined by Smuin Ballet general manager and former San Francisco Ballet dancer JoEllen Arntz to talk about how they started the Whole Wellness Program for Smuin Ballet and the importance of emotional as well as physical resources in times of adversity–such as right now!

Pilates Day is an annual, international, community event celebrated on the first Saturday of May every year.

The Pilates Day mission is to foster the public’s appreciation and awareness of the Pilates Method through a network of varied, innovative, and high quality grassroots Pilates events accessible and affordable for all.
