I was fortunate enough to have taken the Pilates Therapeutics Scoliosis Specialization Program with Dr. Suzanne Martin in June 2017. The group was very small (just 4 participants), this provided a wonderful opportunity for a lot of "hands on" work with Dr. Martin. Honestly, the content of this course is quite intensive and although it is not required, some knowledge of anatomy and experience with body movement (kinematics) is extremely helpful.Throughout this intensive course I do not believe there was ever a moment in which we were not thinking and discussing what we were learning as we were learning it... even our coffee breaks were usually informal discussions and questioning of the material we were learning. I enjoyed this course so much, and I found that the enrichment I gained as a Pilates professional more than justified the cost of the program. The program was so comprehensive from learning how to observe, analyze, and write programming for clients with Scoliosis issues and more. The program was especially valuable to me since I have a daughter with Scoliosis that affects many areas of her life.At the end of the program, Dr. Martin requires that we submit a final project which describes how we would utilize some of the concepts we have learned to stabilize the lumbar spine and pelvis and decrease pain as well for that client. The project was extremely valuable in itself because it validated that the investment I made in the program had really tested what I had learned and forced me to put that knowledge into practical application.I highly recommend this program for those who really have a deeper interest in applying the Pilates Method for clients with Scoliosis or for any type of spine related disharmony.5 stars!!!!
